Synopsis:
The setting is the early 80s when music was changing. Raised by a hypocritical preacher and an alcoholic and depressed mother, this story is about a young lady who was sheltered and taught that being gay is an abomination. She is struggling with her sexuality and whether or not her friends will accept her if they knew the truth.
Characters:
Eileen: She is gay but is struggling with her sexuality and whether or not people will accept her if they knew the truth. She is also struggling with her depressed mother and her preacher father that left her.
Linda: She is gay. She is very comfortable with who she is. She’s always been a strong person and is unapologetic for who she is. She falls for Eileen and struggles with Eileen’s hesitation.
Joan: Eileen’s mom. She is depressed and an alcoholic. She loves her daughter Eileen more than anything else. But she has trouble moving on with her life after a heartbreaking divorce
Stephen: He’s a rocker boy. He loves his friends and his rock music. He wears jeans and t-shirts and he loves Donna.
Ann: She loves hanging out with her friends but she knows her future is about to start in college.
Donna: She enjoys her dance music and hanging out with her friends. She’s very compassionate and loves Stephen.
Ted: He has a bright future. He loves hanging out with his punk friends. He especially likes Jan.
Joey: He just enjoys hanging out with his buddies. He doesn’t know what his future holds.
Jan: She has a bright future and is a hard worker. She has feelings for Ted but fights them and plays hard to get, until she doesn’t.
